Outtakes

Every now and then I make cards for people. These are a lot of times post cards that I've amended for the specific special occasion. Christmas cards, birthday cards, Valentines, etc. These are fun and incredibly liberating to make, an exercise in letting go. It's also very fun and nice to know that between my mailbox and the recipient's hands, who knows how many eyes have been lain upon these little pieces of art.

It is a free traveling art show.

Here is an idea that never felt like following through...

I don't even remember who this was intended for.

Still More Random Acts of Art

Last week I decided to use one afternoon to creating again and happened upon another random act of art (as I've called it in the past). Still the octopus seems to haunt my brush so to speak, as the only thing I've really been able to draw, doodle or sketch for the past six months tends to have at least one of the odd figures floating around somewhere. This description is no different for today's random act of art,

Encounter #63: Octopus

Also of note, I recently attended Spoon's three day stint at Stubb's in Austin as an official member of the photo crew and took some neat pictures. TheTripwire.com will be running 10 or so of them, but there are loads more where that came from, so after they sift through them, I'll post some more I thought were worth it. I feel special.

More Random Acts of Art

Over the Thanksgiving holiday my friend Pat and I came up with a few new designs for some t-shirts we've been making. The goal is to make them with enough creativity, oddness and quality that people will be envious enough of those already wearing them to buy one or more for themselves. These designs lent themselves well to a comic strip format, and thus another random act of art was birthed. This time it came in the form of A Couple of Cavemen.

It looks crudely done, but I think that adds to the charm... please click to make much bigger

Random Act of Art

every now and then we all have random acts of art. You might just accidentally doodle something, or you might happen upon a rhyme that tickles your fancy. Maybe you take a photo you're exceptionally proud of or hum a tune completely original. Today I had a random act of art all my own. Here it is:

just a package of crayola watercolors and a calligraphy pen I bought a couple weeks ago. You never know when it'll happen, but when it does, you feel pretty good.
