Too Hot

It is too hot to blog, too hot to think. I haven't done anything on this bloody page since 30 July and the time spent since has been sweaty, miserable and hot. This is the hottest summer ever recorded in Austin and the last time I checked we eclipsed the 50-day record for consecutive triple digit days. That was almost a week ago, and it has definitely been in the low 100's the past two days.

When it rains it pours, so they say. This summer, when it rains it sprinkles, for about 5 minutes, then it bakes you, steams you, and spits you out onto the asphalt. These sayings are also telling for my want of creativity. There've been maybe two things started and finished that I'm proud of, a half dozen more experiments in amateur literature that have been started and dropped - not for lack of quality, but merely for lack of motivation.

Sorry, I should have warned that this post might be a beat down.

Is there such a thing as the Summer Blues?

On another note: who wants to help me get the ball really rolling on a high-speed rail system connecting the Texas triangle? If I won the lottery, that's what I'd put the money towards, an eco(friendly)nomical transportation system from here across the major thoroughfares of Texas.

As long as we have better lobbyists than Southwest Airlines.

You're championing rail transit in Texas now? Be still my beating heart!

Did I send you the short story I wrote about the guy having a very bad day before an important first date? I think I'm going to put it up on my blog next.

Looking forward to your new creative output. I'm at Ben's place looking at a picture of a SCUBA man threatening an octopus with a scabbard.

Haha, yeah. For some reason the thought just came up and I haven't been able to shake it from my brain. The Rother Line. Has a nice ring to it, eh? These guys are doing an alright job of it, www.thsrtc.com but I want it done sooner. Like now.

Yeah, I've read it, and I love it.

Glad to know it's hanging on a wall, would love to see how it looks up there.
