Ouch (to your comic).
Don't know what your travel budget is or what kind of time off you get, but you should go to Istanbul. Airfare is pretty comparable to European cities, though flying out of Austin rather than Houston or Dallas might be a little more. I've booked a tour package that include several others cities and sights, but I've heard that Istanbul by itself is an incredible city. Go friend!
